The trucks of today is very different then the trucks of long ago.
Today's computer controlled trucks can be modified for more performance without even picking up one tool. The computers can be reprogrammed for more HP and gas
mileage. Hypertech, Jet, Superchips, and Fastchips (to name a few) all have products that can alter your computer. Hypertech and Superchips both have a handheld programmer that reprograms the computer, Jet has a harness that connects in series with the computer and Fastchips require you to send them your computer to be reprogrammed. Jet, Superchips, and Fastchips can all be custom programmed for your truck and mods. The Hypertech only comes with a generic performance program. The all very in price but all have
similar performance gains.
I like the Hypertech over the rest because........
Fastchip require the computer to be shipped to them. If you ever have a problem with your truck that the dealer has to fix and they flash your computer back to stock, you lose your program.
Jet only adjust HP. They do not adjust for speedometer changes, transmission shift points or speed limiters.
Superchips might (to some) give you more HP then the Hypertech but does not have all the options that Hypertech gives you. In a side-by-side test that I did with my 02 5.3 GMC, the Hypertech out preformed the Superchips custom program for my truck. The Superchips does not give you the option of what gas to use or what shift points to use. I was very
unsatisfied with my programmer and I know of others that was too.
The Hypertech adjust for 2 performance programs. One for 93 octane and one for 87 octane gas. It also adjust you speed limiter, rev limiter, tire/gear sizes, shift points, shift firmness, cooler thermostats, and you also have the ability to change or remove the program at anytime.
The Superchips and Hypertechs programmer connect onto your computer access connector under the driver-side dash. Once in place and the key in the run position the programs can be installed.
