Exhaust

One of the most popular ways to get more performance out of your truck is to install an aftermarket exhaust system. These systems come in a wide variety of brands, setups and styles. Single mufflers, dual mufflers, single exhaust pipe, duals, rear exit and side exit is some of the many choices. Some of the systems can be mail ordered and shipped to your door for you to install and all can be done at a local speed/exhaust shop. Headers can be added to give you more of a gain and high flow converters can also help the exhaust move freely. Whatever choice you make I am sure you will get more performance out of your truck and in most cases get the performance sound that most are looking for.

On my truck I installed a set of Dean LaPole long tube headers, a magnaflow X-pipe, dual 40 series 2 chamber flowmasters, and turndowns before the rear-end. The stock converters was left because they flow almost as much as the after market converters. The stock Y-pipe was cut to let the pipes run separately to the X-pipe. All the sensors was put back in the factory locations and no computer problems have happened. If I would have wanted to remove my converters I would have had to trick the computer into thinking I still had converters. I would have had to plug in some O.2. simulators. These electronic devices trick the computer by giving the correct readings that a real O.2. sensor would give. My truck really can alive after this install and gave it a unique sound that most everyone loves. It is real quiet at an idle and low rpms and the sound really comes alive when the rpms rise. It does not have that low hum in the cab that most other exhaust systems have. This setup has been used with other brand mufflers.
