EGR restrictor plate

By restricting EGR gasses from entering your motor you increase part throttle performance. This is great for increasing performance at normal driving speeds. I started out by removing the EGR tube from the exhaust manifold. Then using the stock gasket as a template I measured the size of the bolt holes and locations. I also traced out the shape of the gasket on the plate. I used a piece of 1/8" X 1-1/2" aluminum flat. I then drilled the bolt holes and instead of drilling out the big hole in the middle I only drilled a small 5/32 hole. This smaller hole would restrict the gasses from entering the tube and keep the computer from throwing a code. I then shaped the plate into the oval shape. I test fitted the plate to make sure the holes was correct. I bought some gasket material and made 2 gaskets to fit on both sides of the plate. The plate was then bolted between the manifold and the EGR tube. At full throttle no difference was felt because the EGR shuts off near WOT. Driving around town a difference could be noticed under acceleration. There is no way we could prove that this worked but we felt like it did. Keep in mind that doing this alters your emissions and if seen by a dealership could void your warranty. If after install your truck pings at WOT remove the plate or run higher octane gas. If your trucks computer throws a code, remove the plate, drill the restrictor hole one size bigger, reset your computer, and reinstall.
